*Update December 2023

Currently we have limited availability for volunteers.

However we do offer one space per month on our Co Living for Creatives 4 week Program. Do get in touch if you wold like to know more about this

As we refurbish this beautiful building, we offer free accommodation in exchange for assistance. If you’d like to become part of Team Mill, we’d love to leverage your skills to move this project forward.

Throughout the year, there’s plenty of opportunities for carpenters, painters and builders to get involved in the refurbishment of interior rooms. We are also looking for help with the outdoor spaces. Planning & creating & planting an organic kitchen garden. Including irrigation systems for the existing fruit trees. There’s enough digging, planting, pruning to keep keen gardeners very busy working along side the River. Foraging for, cutting, and stacking firewood is also an ongoing fundamental task here at the Mill.

These are just a few examples of ways to get involved, but as you can imagine with a project of this size, there’s plenty of opportunities to leverage your energy and enthusiasm to facilitate change. If you feel you have a skill set to share and you’re ready to become part of our cultural exchange project, we’d love to hear from you.

The exchange experiences so far have been utterly delightful. Team Mill, the group name to everyone who comes to help out, has done nothing but breathe laughter, joy and memories into the walls of The Mill and become part of it’s historic revival. I’m humbled by their commitment to the project and the contributions they’ve made to fostering a family environment. The Mill really is HOME for whoever comes to stay. For more detailed information about volunteering at The Mill, you can check out our public profile on Workaway.info. We’ve all had an extremely positive experience and the sense of ‘Fam’ here is felt.

What The Volunteers Are Saying:

“This was our first workaway and was AMAZING! Nathalie treated us as if we were family, we felt like being in home. She fed us a lot, is a great cook, and she was very sweet and generous with us. We did a lot of maintenance handyman jobs, and after hours we would go to the river for a swim. We love the project she is running. We had a lot of good, long conversations, and met other volunteers. Nathalie introduced us to others artists and people from the town. It was a really nice experience. The place is beautiful and peaceful. We are very glad we came here, and very grateful to Nathalie for the special attention she gave us. Really wonderful woman! We will miss you Nat!” Cristian & Anüit

“Nathalie was the most perfect host and this was also a perfect workaway opportunity. It gave me chance to get involved in lots of things and to know what I had contributed to the overall project, all in all a tremendous sense of achievement. The location had a perfect combination of solitude, yet Millau (quite a decent sized town) is also only 15 minutes away if you feel like an evening out. I am a painter and also a cyclist. The place gave me incredible light into the evening so I could paint away to my heart's content. It also gave me access to the Aveyron countryside, its hills and mountains, so I could cycle in my down time too. It was also great to talk with Nathalie and I was the beneficiary of her wisdom and practical view of life; we will remain friends long after my visit. A highly recommended host, a perfect location for contemplation and adventure.” Craig

“WARNING! Ones you’ve been to Nathalie’s place, you’d probably never want to leave or you want to come back over and over again. As a host Nathalie is (bloody) perfect…Her meals are outstanding. I consider Nathalie as a new friend with whom I had really good conversations, good laughs, wonderful out- and indoor yoga sessions completing with long meditations. She has such a good eye for historic features and preserving them. Also her passion for art, ceramics and decoration makes this place so inspiring. Thank you so much Nathalie for your kindness, your hospitality, your honesty, your creativity, your perseverance, your understanding, your enthusiasm, your humour, your generosity and your confidence.” Jacqueline
